Peak Bagging

A popular trend is the goal of climbing all of Colorado's 14ers. I never had this goal until a friend, Aaron Penner, asked me to climb them with him. I had a modest 20 under my belt and the following year I climbed another 22. In total I estimate that I hiked 383 miles, 169,575 feet of elevation gain and 700 hours. After running marathons, completing triathlons, sky diving, serving in the military in the Persian Gulf and passing a kidney stone, climbing all of Colorado's 14ers is one of the more rewarding and physically challenging accomplishment. You can watch me celebrate on the summit of Culebra Peak, after climbing them all.

Climbing consumed atleast one summer of my life with no regrets. I still climb but have moved on to other goals. I'm still a geek for history and I came across this book on Amazon.com. THE FOURTEENERS is the oldest book on the Colorado fourteeners I've found. Now a retrospect on these mountains I've experienced, I love the mountain descriptions. This one alone inspired me to create this site: "Enthusiasts who set to climb every one of the Fourteeners generally save Crestone for last, since a climber needs every ounce of experience he can muster in order to conquer this peak."
